4 more days and the wake up

Seriously, where did this past year go?  Last thing I remember, I was resigning from my job and making a devil-may-care decision to go to Greece as soon as the sun began shining again on a regular basis.  The winter was long and grey; I wore out my Mama Mia! DVD trying to keep hope alive.  Now here I am, dusting off my carry-on and trying to decide between SPF 15 or 30.

I guess history teaches us that any trip to Greece should be long-anticipated and hard won: Odysseus journeyed for ten long years after the fall of Troy before finally reaching his home in Ithaka.  He had to deal with shipwreck, lazy lotus eaters, multi-headed monsters, and his men being turned into swine after innocently dining on wine and cheese–with Ithaka always just out of sight.

Odysseus set the bar so high, there’s just no complaining about a middle seat in coach.

May 24th @ 8am girl, WAKE UP! Enjoy your flight (as much as you can — transatlantic middle seat Coach ugh — girl please, you should have kept your job for one more week and purchased an upgrade!) Let me know if you should, say, forget your passport or something unheard of like that… Ms. P and I will come to the rescue. Mancub says “ahh ba bla ba ba goo!”

Bella Sarah! Did I tell you about the time I forgot my passport on a flight out yonder? I missed my flight, got on standby on the next flight out and was bumped to first class. I had such good karma back then. Big smooches from me to Mancub. Better yet, bring him out here, so I can do it myself.

Greetings from the sunny shores of lake Michigan and the happening city of Racine. Let me just say I REALLY feel your pain having to fly coach- I would have canceled my entire trip. Just would not have been worth all the pain and torture. And that hotel room, no way girl get yourself on the next plane home!!!! Mickey and Jelly say HI.

Kisses to Mickey, Jelly, Boots and you! Yeah, yeah, you’re all sarcastic, but whenever I step out of my hotel, people start offering me money because they think I’m a Russian prostitute. I dress all schlumpy too–baggy khakis, neckline up to my chin, hair pulled back. Its just that kind of neighborhood. No worries though, I’ll survive ;)

Sister you could not have said it better: “I guess history teaches us that any trip to Greece should be long-anticipated and hard won: Odysseus journeyed for ten long years after the fall of Troy before finally reaching his home in Ithaka.”

I agree! That is why I will see you on 1 July! I have had a long journey this year and Greece is just the place to enjoy the spoils of war.

YAY! I can’t wait to see you!…I’ll send you details closer to the date. Odysseus has nothing on you, girl. Its like you did battle with Cyclops, Scylla and the SIrens all at once. I’m so excited you’re coming!
