On the Greek Island of Sifnos, I remembered that I have atrocious long-term memory – it’s one of the reasons I decided to start this blog and why I always have a camera at my side – and that I should be diligent in recording everything on this beautiful and tranquil island.
Without visual reminders, a few years from now there would just be a dim recollection of having spent a few months in Greece a while back.
I would worry about these severe lapses in memory but I’ve been like this for as long as I can remember. Without my sisters, I fear I would have no childhood at all. What is childhood, after all, but a string of long-term memories?
It has served me well at times. For example, I can watch certain movies over and over again and the ending is always a surprise. Other times it’s downright embarassing.
